Our Family Vacation to Oklahoma City
This year we decided to take a family vacation to OKC and visit the zoo. What were we thinking?!!? No, really it was fun but it was just SO hot! What's important is that the girls seemed to have fun and I'm certain that they don't remember the heat, but rather all of the fun animals we got to see, the horse ride we got to take, the river we rode on...etc. And that's what it's really all about!
Here are the details and pics from our little vacation...
Off we go! On Friday morning we headed out. We stopped in Amarillo and ate pancakes at IHOP and stretched our legs. Once we got to OKC we went to Quail Springs Mall. I thought it would be a great idea to go shopping! Ha! The girls were tired and we didn't last long there. :-)

We got up early on Saturday in an attempt to beat the heat. The zoo opened at 900 and it was already over 90 degrees and HUMID! Here we are with our happy faces!

Emmerson and Daddy checking out the gorillas! Emmi says "cool!"

This was the animal Emmerson was most excited to see! Anytime we asked her, "What animal are you most excited to see?" she would reply with "alligators and crocodiles!"

Daddy, Evynn and her sweet little red cheeks!

We were also very excited to see this tall animal!

Emmerson Rose posing on a...I don't know...is that a rhino? We did see some cool rhinos!

Here is Evynn just before she started to do the head bob. In the video below the picture you can get just a little bit of an idea how we were feeling around 11:00 after 2 hours in the heat, humidity and walking the entire zoo. Emmerson was pretty miserable. Evynn was just exhausted. Like I said before, it's a good thing that these sweet girls remember the good parts of the zoo visit! :-)
After the zoo we went back to the hotel and had a family nap. When we woke up we took the girls down to the pool and they had a great time swimming. They both love the water! You have probably picked up on that after reading this summer's blog entries! :-)

After a little swim we got ready and headed out to Bricktown for dinner.
We ate at Spaghetti Warehouse where we had an hour wait. Yikes! The girls handled it pretty well but once we sat down to order Evynn got a little restless. Sweet little Emmerson started a little game of peek-a-boo to entertain her!

After dinner we took a horse and carriage ride/tour around Bricktown. Emmerson got to ride up front. I think this may have been her favorite part of the whole weekend! :-) Notice her big wave in this picture...so sweet!

Evynn and Daddy...laid back. Notice Evynn's tiny finger wrapped around Alan's finger.
Cheese! Emmerson just hanging out on the river, waiting for our boat ride. Yes, we thought we would squeeze in one more thing...because Em really wanted to and "what the heck," we were on vacation!

Back at the hotel...Emmerson was SO excited that we didn't completely miss the Hannah Montana concert! She got to see about a whole 10 minutes!
Here's Little Sister...just wandering around the hotel room at 10:00...delirious! :-)
On Sunday we got up and went to Starbucks for breakfast.
Evynn loves vanilla milk and pumpkin bread at Starbucks! Yum!
Again, it was already really hot so we ditched our plans to walk around Bricktown and went to the Bass Pro Shop instead. The girls enjoyed seeing the fish and we enjoyed the cool air! :-)
Last stop...Toby Keith's "I Love This Bar" for lunch. We met Dent and Brandy there who were also in OKC for their 5th anniversary/summer vacation that weekend. While we were waiting on our food, Emmerson decided to remove her bows and fix Mommy's hair. Of course she wanted to take pics then so here they are!

Sissy,
GREAT Pictures!! The video makes me laugh but yet makes me sad that my precious little dollies were sooo exhausted! So glad you had a great time despite the HOT weather. I love how you girls are all dressed in the same color. BEAUTIFUL!!
Sweet, Sweet picture of Alan holding Evie and how she has her fingers wrapped around his!!
That's so cool that you all could have a little time with Dent and Brandy, too....expecially since Em had picked out a suprize for Adlee, too. What a thoughtful 3 year old!!
I Love YOU,
Mama
I am LOL so much right now....That pretty much epitomizes their Zoo endurance, huh? Well, you got some great shots of everything so one day they can look back at them and say, "Mom, what were you thinking?" haha
Sweet sweet little ones is all i can say!. Love, SR
